Engineering Expertise from Concept to Commissioning

Whatever your machining requirements our dedicated Applications Team will work closely with your own engineers throughout the selection process.

From feasibility studies, through machine and equipment selection to project justification – to ensure that you are considering the very best engineering solution to produce your customers’ components.

For turnkey applications these experienced engineers will prepare detailed engineering reports reflecting your efficiency rates, your conditions, the amount of space required in your premises and the experience of your personnel.

Precision Manufacturing Reports

These bespoke reports recommend the optimum means of producing your customers’ parts in the quantities that they require and in line with their SPC criteria.
Furthermore, the reports outline the manufacturer, specification and cost of any ancillary equipment required to support the process – from work-holding and fixturing to tooling and loading systems.

And, this expert technical support does not end once the process has been proposed.

WMT Technical Support & Application Services Overview

  • Many aspects are involved with the initial stages of a technical enquiry. With our experience, knowledge, and best practices, we strive to demonstrate the best techniques and provide an accurate representation of the selected process.
  • The applications department takes advantage of best-in-class equipment and software to deliver reliable information, giving our Business Development Managers the best material to present to potential new customers.
  • Depending on project complexities, we apply what we feel is the correct study. This may range from a quick estimate on manufacturing time to a full program and fresh-air run, using proven tooling data to provide an indicative cycle time we are confident in.
  • We also conduct testing on customer components and develop manufacturing techniques suited to the best-in-class machinery supplied by WMT.
  • WMT conducts project training on all supplied equipment, with extensive documentation available on request.
  • Our training is adaptable to the individual, allowing them to gain confidence quickly and focus on the necessary tasks at hand.
  • We prioritise strong relationships with our customers to drive productivity, ensuring they can pick up the phone and get quick answers.
  • The early stages of machinery purchase can be daunting due to the amount of knowledge required, which is why we focus on adaptability and providing a structure that works for the customer.
  • As a department, we maintain continuity after the sale. This includes handling customer questions, support, additional training for new or existing staff, and developing component machining strategies that may differ from what they are used to.
  • We maintain flexibility and allocate sufficient resources to accommodate these additional requests.
  • WMT has a higher number of application engineers relative to output, which gives customers confidence that they will receive answers quickly and efficiently.
  • If automation has been selected, we work transparently with the customer to adapt a process that is easily managed while remaining as efficient as possible.
  • Our application team is proficient in computer-aided design, allowing us to present pre-sale demonstrations of workflow, unmanned runtime, and more—giving customers confidence in the accuracy of our work.
  • Prior to delivery, all robot cells are thoroughly tested on the selected components, ensuring flawless installation when the machine arrives at the customer site.
  • In most cases, after installation, the robot and machine are used in a production environment where the customer gains confidence in the selected products. Inevitably, this raises additional support questions, for which we return to provide further training.
